Japanese Knotweed Services

Our Services

Japanese Knotweed Plus is a company which specialises in the professional removal, eradication and control of Japanese Knotweed in the North West of England. A hugely aggressive invasive species, this perennial weed can cause cosmetic and severe structural damage to buildings, reduce the value of your home and make selling it very difficult.

The law in England and Wales stipulates that there is no legal obligation for landowners to remove Japanese knotweed. However, if you do intend to sell and there is evidence that the plant is on or near your property, you will almost certainly need to undertake a survey in order for prospective buyers to be able to be granted a mortgage. You will need to state that a Japanese knotweed management and treatment plan is in place and is covered by insurance. With our worry free service, we will provide you with the documents required to satisfy your buyer’s mortgage lender, which will include a comprehensive survey report and bespoke Japanese knotweed management plan.

Once the Japanese knotweed is properly controlled, you will be able to sell your house without any hiccups. What’s more, we offer 10-year Insurance Backed Guarantees for all of our work, ensuring that the treatment will run its full course.

For all of our customers whether domestic, the owner of a commercial property or you own some development land, we are here to reassure and help you to understand more about Japanese Knotweed and other invasive plants.

Our main aim is to help reassure you, guide you and help you with Japanese knotweed and other invasive plants. We know that the media can hugely exaggerate Japanese knotweed and make it sound much worse than it actually is. Armed with the correct knowledge you will see it’s not as scary as you may think and we can help you with treatment options.

Domestic Customers

Unlike some of our larger competitors, a large proportion of our work is focused around the domestic market. We have an excellent relationship with over 1000 estate and letting agents throughout the North West of England helping to identify thousands of knotweed and giant hogweed outbreaks.

We have gained a great reputation for the identification, surveying and treatment of Japanese knotweed for their clients.

There is now a requirement for you to indicate if Japanese knotweed is present on your land when filling in the paperwork to sell your house. In most cases to satisfy the lenders, a survey report and management plan detailing our course of treatment are all that is required. We will treat the Japanese knotweed on your land with herbicides, making use of our advanced injection and weed wipe techniques to protect your valuable plants in the infested area.

We provide identification service for free to domestic customers; just email a photo of the suspicious plants to us via our Contact page.

Commercial Properties and Development Lands

Wherever possible we will use chemical treatments. This method is relatively inexpensive and effective as all treatments are carried out on-site.

We use this method to prevent the spread of contaminated soil. However, the treatment usually takes a couple of growing seasons followed by a couple of years of monitoring to ensure that the probability of regrowth is negligible. In some cases, a quick solution is required.

We can arrange excavation, installation of a vertical barrier and recycling of the weed material both on-site or off-site, whichever is required, by our reputable qualified contractors under our direct supervision.

Local Authorities

Local authorities are major owners of properties and land across the UK. However, due to the huge amount of work and often a lack of funds they are unable to respond rapidly to the problems associated with invasive weeds.

Meanwhile, there are many large areas of the land belonging to local authorities infested with the top-three undesirable weeds in the UK, including Japanese Knotweed, Giant Hogweed and Himalayan Balsam.

We are highly experienced to deal with these weeds. We are happy to offer our professional services to support local authorities.

Our treatment options rely on the application of herbicides, we make use of spraying and injection as these are the proven most cost-effective and efficient options available. Other options based on physical removal will be employed when necessary for Japanese Knotweed and other weeds.

Wherever possible the injection technique is preferred, this is because it does not cause severe damage to the surrounding vegetation and wildlife.

If you suspect that Japanese knotweed or other invasive weeds like Giant Hogweed or Himalayan Balsam are present on your land, simply send us a picture of the plant using the form on our contact page, or email us at info@japaneseknotweedplus.co.uk
